This is the story of how the Doxford engine that remained at the works after the last marine engine was completed in 1980 was saved in 1986 for the benefit of future generations. It tells how in 2001, with support from many organisations and individuals, it was successfully relocated to a site at Beamish, where it is now seen and appreciated by thousands of people each year.
